Fira de Barcelona is one of Europe’s largest trade-fair organisers, and it runs two very different venues. Which one your event uses matters more than most visitors expect, because it changes both the drive from the airport and the entrance you should aim for.

Gran Via — the airport’s fairground
The Gran Via venue sits in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, on Avinguda Juan Carlos I, about 10 km and 10 to 15 minutes from the airport. It is effectively the fairground next to the runway, and it hosts the heavyweight shows: Mobile World Congress, ISE, ICE, Alimentaria and IBTM World among them. Because Gran Via is so close to the terminal, a private transfer here is one of the shortest and most worthwhile trips we run — no dragging a stand’s worth of sample cases through the metro.
According to its organiser, the Gastronomic Forum Barcelona moves here too, to Hall 1, for its 2–4 November 2026 edition; the Fira calendar still lists Montjuïc, so check the venue on your badge.

One show is still unclear: Automobile Barcelona, the biennial motor show, is open to the public on 10–18 April 2027, but the official sources do not yet agree on whether it is at Gran Via or Montjuïc. Check the venue on your ticket before you book.

Tech and medical congresses at Gran Via
Gran Via is also where some of the biggest rotating international congresses land when they come to Barcelona. Most delegates at congresses like these fly in, so book the airport transfer as soon as your flight is confirmed.
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe runs here on 15–18 March 2027, starting the day after the Barcelona Marathon.
On the medical side, the European Hematology Association holds EHA2027 here on 10–13 June 2027.
Sooner than that, UEG Week, the gastroenterology congress, is at Gran Via on 17–20 October 2026 (North Entrance).

Montjuïc — by Plaça Espanya
The older Montjuïc venue is set around Plaça Espanya, roughly 13 to 15 km and about 20 minutes from the airport. It hosts Barcelona Wine Week in February, the Festival de la Infància over Christmas and the Saló de l’Ensenyament in March. Reaching it on public transport means the L1/L3 metro and a walk through the fairground gates — fine without luggage, tiring with exhibition kit.

And one that is at neither venue: the Boat Show
The Saló Nàutic de Barcelona, the boat show, is organised by Fira de Barcelona but is not held at either fairground: it runs at Port Vell, in the old harbour, every October. Different side of the city, different drop-off.

The other congress venue: the CCIB
Not every big Barcelona congress is at Fira. The CCIB — Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona — is at the other end of the city, by the Fòrum, and hosts Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo and many international medical congresses. Check your venue before you book: Gran Via and the CCIB are on opposite sides of Barcelona.

Why exhibitors and visitors pre-book
Trade-fair weeks concentrate thousands of arrivals into a short window, so the airport taxi rank and ride apps come under pressure exactly when you have a build-up slot or a first meeting. A pre-booked transfer fixes the fare before you fly, tracks your flight, and takes you to the right gate of the right venue. For teams with demo gear, a minivan or Van XL carries the cases too.
