Why do search results show "Barcelona" flights that land elsewhere?
Some low-cost carriers, Ryanair in particular, market Girona and Reus as "Barcelona" destinations because both airports sit within the wider Catalonia region and both existed as overflow/low-cost airports before El Prat expanded. It is not incorrect, exactly — but it can mean the cheapest fare in a search actually lands you an hour or more outside the city you are trying to reach.
Neither mistake nor scam: it is simply worth checking the airport code (BCN, GRO or REU) before you book, and budgeting the extra transfer time and cost if you go with Girona or Reus.
