About this route
From Montserrat Monastery to Barcelona Airport it is about 60 km, a 55–70 minute drive on the BP-1121 down to Monistrol and then the C-55 and A-2. We collect you on the sanctuary esplanade or at your mountain accommodation, with 24-hour service to cover the early flights the train + cremallera connection cannot guarantee.
Why book with QuickPickups?
The public alternative is slow and full of changes: rack railway or cable car down to Monistrol, FGC R5 to Plaça Espanya, and from Barcelona still another leg to the airport, all with your luggage. Our driver sets the pickup around your flight and drives straight to the airport, with a fixed price, luggage included and invoices available for companies.
When to choose this route?
Visitors finishing a day trip or retreat at Montserrat, groups and pilgrims flying out the same day, and anyone with an early flight and no convenient public connection from the mountain.
Practical tips
For 6:00–8:00 flights, pickup is roughly 3 hours before take-off because of the distance and the mountain descent. The first morning cremallera may not arrive in time for an early flight, which is exactly why the direct transfer is the reliable option. For groups, book a minivan.

Frequently asked questions
- Montserrat to Barcelona Airport: how long is the journey and how many kilometres?
- The trip is about 60 km and 55–70 minutes door to door, depending on traffic. The fixed price from €159 covers the whole route — no meter, no surprises.
- Is the price fixed or can it change?
- The price is completely fixed from €159. No meter and no hidden tolls, and the standard luggage you declare when booking is included. Special luggage (skis or a board, a bike, golf clubs or suitcases beyond those declared) has its own published rate on our extras page and is added before you pay. What you see when booking is what you pay.
- What time should I be picked up to catch my flight?
- The drive to Barcelona Airport takes about 55–70 minutes, depending on traffic. Airlines usually recommend arriving 2 hours before a European flight and 3 hours before a long-haul one, so choose your pickup time with that margin and add extra time at rush hour. You set the pickup time yourself when you book.
- How many passengers and bags fit?
- It depends on the category you choose. From the Economy with 4 seats to the Van XXL with 14 seats and 14 bags. Enter passengers and bags when booking: the search only shows you the vehicles where everything fits, with real seat and luggage figures. If your group is bigger than our largest vehicle, message us on WhatsApp and we quote you.
- Can I cancel my booking?
- Yes. Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance are completely free. You can manage it from the confirmation email or by writing to [email protected].
- Is there a bus from Barcelona to Montserrat monastery?
- Yes, but only one a day in each direction. Autocars Julià runs a coach from beside Barcelona-Sants station up to the monastery in the morning, returning in the late afternoon; the R2 Nord from the airport stops at Sants. Separately, the Aerobús calls at Plaça Espanya, where FGC R5 trains leave for the cable car and the rack railway. Check current schedules.
- Where will the driver meet us at Montserrat monastery?
- Agree a precise spot when booking. The BP-1121 climbs 9 km of bends from Monistrol, and parking at the top is strung out along the road and fills up at weekends, so 'the monastery' is too vague. Choose a named point, such as the upper cremallera station, keep your phone on, and remember free waiting here is 15 minutes.
