Baqueira Beret is Spain’s premium ski resort, tucked into the Val d’Aran on the far north-western edge of Catalonia. It has long been the choice of skiers who want reliable snow, an extensive lift network and a genuinely alpine feel — and it is a long way from anywhere, which makes the transfer part of the trip worth getting right. For 2026-27 the resort has announced a €7 M investment, a new six-seat chairlift, Clòt der Os, and the replacement of the Pla de Beret lift.
A long transfer from Barcelona
From Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) the drive is 328 km and about 4 h 25 without traffic, climbing north-west through Lleida and entering the Aran valley through the Vielha tunnel. The shorter road over the Bonaigua pass is 291 km, but the Bonaigua sits above 2,000 m and closes in winter — it was shut for six days by a rockfall on 26 February 2026 — so the winter figure is the one through the tunnel. It is a scenic route but a demanding one, and the time is an estimate without traffic, not a guaranteed arrival.
When does the season run?
The 2026-27 season has been announced for 28 November 2026 to 4 April 2027. That date comes from specialist press citing the resort and we have not been able to verify it on the official site, so treat it as announced rather than confirmed and check the official resort calendar before you book flights.
A FIS European Cup race at Beret
For the third winter in a row, Baqueira Beret hosts the men’s slalom of the FIS European Cup, on the Stadium Fernández Ochoa at Beret. The dates are listed below under “Coming up here”.
Which airport for Baqueira?
Geographically, the nearest airport is Toulouse-Blagnac in France, over the border. In practice many travellers still fly into Barcelona for the connections, the frequency and the fares — and that is the route we operate: a private transfer from BCN straight to your hotel in Baqueira, Salardú or elsewhere in the Val d’Aran.
Skis and boards
Skis and boards travel as special equipment: €15 per set per passenger, with a limit per vehicle — one set in a saloon, two or three in a minivan, four or more in a van. Tell us how many sets you are carrying when you book: if they do not fit, we quote the larger vehicle before you pay, never after.
Practical winter tips
- It is a four-and-a-half-hour drive — book both legs well in advance and share your flight number so we track any delay.
- Travelling with a group? One shared van keeps everyone and all the gear together for a long journey.
- Tell us your resort village at booking so we route to the right door.
- For mountain routes we assign a vehicle that is ready for them: our fleet meets the mandatory winter equipment rules and, when conditions call for it, the assigned vehicle goes up with chains on board.
