About this route
Baqueira-Beret sits at the head of the Val d'Aran, the north-facing valley of the central Pyrenees. From Barcelona-El Prat Airport it is 328 km and about 4 h 25 without traffic: the road crosses Catalonia towards Lleida, climbs the N-230 and enters the valley through the Vielha tunnel; from Vielha it carries on up the valley through Arties and Salardú to Baqueira. There is a shorter way over the Bonaigua pass, 291 km, but it closes in winter, so in the season we always use the tunnel.

Practical tips
Book the return together with the outward trip: on changeover weekends everyone comes down at the same time. In heavy snow, allow extra time over the 4 h 25. Skis and boards travel as special equipment: tell us how many sets you are carrying when you book and, if they do not fit, we quote the larger vehicle before you pay, never after. - Why don't you take the Bonaigua pass? It's shorter.
- It is: 291 km against 328. But the Bonaigua climbs above 2,000 metres and closes in winter — on 26 February 2026 it was cut for six days after a landslide. In the ski season we always enter the valley through the Vielha tunnel, which is the figure we quote.
- How far into the valley do you go?
- To the door of your hotel or apartment, in Baqueira or anywhere else in the Val d'Aran: Salardú, Arties, Vielha. Give us the exact address when you book.
- Can the driver stay with us during the trip?
- Yes, on a quote. Ask for it when you book: the car and the driver stay at your disposal in the valley for the days we agree, so you can move between villages, restaurants and the slopes without driving.
