Andorra’s ski season runs from December to March, with Grandvalira — one of the largest ski domains in southern Europe, spanning Pas de la Casa, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp — and Vallnord (Arinsal, Pal and Ordino-Arcalís) drawing skiers and snowboarders from across the continent. Almost everyone starts the trip the same way: landing at Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) and driving north into the Pyrenees.
Getting from BCN to the slopes
Andorra la Vella sits about 205 km from the airport, a mountain drive of roughly 2.5–3 hours via the C-16 and the Cadí Tunnel, or the C-14, depending on which resort you are heading to and the conditions that day. In snow, our drivers build in 30–45 minutes of extra margin and carry chains rather than gamble on a fixed timetable.
Skis, boards and boot bags need real space
A ski trip is more than a suitcase — poles, boards, boots and helmets take up space no sedan boot was built for. Tell us at booking so we assign a minivan or van with genuine cargo capacity; groups and families travelling together usually find one shared minivan is both cheaper per head and far less hassle than splitting across taxis at the resort door.
Practical winter tips
- Andorra sits outside the EU customs union — keep your passport or national ID accessible; checks are more common leaving than entering.
- A private transfer goes to your hotel door in Andorra la Vella, Soldeu, Pas de la Casa or wherever you are staying — the direct bus only reaches Andorra la Vella bus station.
- We track your flight, so a delayed landing never costs you the transfer.
- Book the return leg too — resort check-out times cluster in the same morning window, and cars sell out fast.
