La Molina and Masella sit side by side above the Cerdanya valley and share lifts and pistes as the Alp 2500 domain — the big ski area within easiest reach of Barcelona. That last point is the headline: La Molina is 158 km and about 2 h 10 from Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), Masella around 160 km and about 2 h 15. Both are closer than Andorra and much closer than Baqueira.
A serious mountain, close to the airport
The combined domain covers 145 km of pistes — there is no reliable separate figure for each resort, so we do not publish one. As of 12 September 2026 neither resort had confirmed its 2026-27 opening and closing dates; historically the season runs from December to late March. Masella tends to extend it thanks to its snowmaking: in the 2025-26 season it stayed open until 1 May, a historical figure rather than a forecast. Check the official resort calendar before you book flights.
Why a transfer beats public transport
The Cerdanya is close in kilometres but awkward on public transport: reaching it from the airport means going into Barcelona first and changing to a slow regional train, then a local connection or taxi at the other end — a long morning with ski bags, boot bags and, often, children. A private transfer removes all of that: one vehicle door to door, a price fixed before you fly, and flight tracking. For mountain routes we assign a vehicle that is ready for them: our fleet meets the mandatory winter equipment rules and, when conditions call for it, the assigned vehicle goes up with chains on board. On the Spanish side the requirement is triggered by the R-412 sign on the stretch, not by the calendar, and only 3PMSF tyres or chains count.
Skis and boards
Skis and boards travel as special equipment: €15 per set per passenger, with a limit per vehicle — one set in a saloon, two or three in a minivan, four or more in a van. Tell us how many sets you are carrying when you book: if they do not fit, we quote the larger vehicle before you pay, never after.
Practical winter tips
- Tell us the number of ski or board sets at booking so we assign the right vehicle from the start.
- Groups and families usually find one shared minivan is cheaper per head and far less hassle than splitting across taxis.
- We track your flight, so a delayed landing never costs you the transfer.
- Book the return leg too — check-out times cluster in the same morning window.
- Travel times are estimates without traffic, never guaranteed arrival times.
