La Molina and Masella sit side by side above the Cerdanya valley and share lifts and pistes as the Alp 2500 domain — the largest ski area within easy reach of Barcelona. That last point is the headline: at roughly 155 km and about two hours from Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN), it is genuinely the closest big-mountain skiing to the city, closer than Andorra and far closer than Baqueira.
A serious mountain, close to the airport
The domain offers around 135 km of pistes, with a base around 1,600 m and a top station near 2,535 m — enough vertical for every level, from the long green runs of La Molina to the steeper terrain shared with Masella. The season normally runs from December to late March, though exact opening and closing dates depend on snow and are confirmed by the resort each year, so check official dates before you book flights.
Why a transfer beats public transport
The Cerdanya is close in kilometres but awkward on public transport: reaching it from the airport means going into Barcelona first and changing to a slow regional train, then a local connection or taxi at the other end — a long morning with ski bags, boot bags and, often, children. A private transfer removes all of that. One vehicle takes you door to door with real cargo space for the gear, a price fixed before you fly, and a driver who tracks your flight and carries chains when the road is white.
