About this route
Tarragona lies about 90 km south of Barcelona Airport, a 60–70 minute drive down the AP-7 motorway, now toll-free. It is the gateway to Roman Tarraco — the seafront amphitheatre, the walls, the Part Alta old quarter — a UNESCO World Heritage site, and to the northern Costa Dorada beaches. It is also a cruise call and home to events like the Tarragona human-tower competition.
Why book with QuickPickups?
Arriving by train from the airport means changing at Sants, and Tarragona station is not always close to old-town hotels. We drive door-to-door from T1 or T2, with a free comfort stop if it stays under 10 minutes and child seats available on request for a supplement from €4. The price is fixed at booking, luggage included and no surcharges.
When to choose this route?
Two- or three-night cultural breaks, visitors to the Tarraco Viva festival in May, cruise passengers whose sailing departs from Tarragona’s port, and families splitting their stay between the city and La Pineda beach.
Practical tips
On July and August Saturdays the southbound AP-7 clogs up around midday: fly in the morning if you can. If you are staying in the Part Alta, tell us — the streets are narrow and we will agree the most convenient drop-off point for your luggage. For groups, book a minivan and the whole family arrives together.

Frequently asked questions
- Barcelona Airport to Tarragona: how long is the journey and how many kilometres?
- The trip is about 90 km and 60–70 minutes door to door, depending on traffic. The fixed price from €173 covers the whole route — no meter, no surprises.
- Is the price fixed or can it change?
- The price is completely fixed from €173. No meter and no hidden tolls, and the standard luggage you declare when booking is included. Special luggage (skis or a board, a bike, golf clubs or suitcases beyond those declared) has its own published rate on our extras page and is added before you pay. What you see when booking is what you pay.
- What happens if my flight is delayed?
- We track your flight in real time through the flight number you provide at booking. If there’s a delay, your driver proposes a new pickup time at no extra cost and we email it to you. You also get 60 minutes of free waiting after landing.
- How many passengers and bags fit?
- It depends on the category you choose. From the Economy with 4 seats to the Van XXL with 14 seats and 14 bags. Enter passengers and bags when booking: the search only shows you the vehicles where everything fits, with real seat and luggage figures. If your group is bigger than our largest vehicle, message us on WhatsApp and we quote you.
- Can I cancel my booking?
- Yes. Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance are completely free. You can manage it from the confirmation email or by writing to [email protected].
- Is there a direct train or bus from Barcelona Airport to Tarragona?
- There's no direct train. By rail you take the R2 Nord from T2 to Barcelona Sants and change there to a regional R14, R15 or R16 for Tarragona station. High-speed trains from Sants stop instead at Camp de Tarragona, about 11 km outside the city. Plana runs coaches from T1 and T2 that call at Tarragona. Check the current timetable before you travel.
- We're staying near L'Arrabassada or Platja Llarga, not in the old town. Can you take us straight there?
- Yes, we drive to the exact address you give us. Tarragona's beaches spread well beyond the centre: El Miracle sits just below the old town, L'Arrabassada lies about 2 km north of the amphitheatre, and Platja Llarga, almost 3 km long, is further along the coast. Hotels and flats there are a separate drive from the centre, so include the building name and street number.
