Núria is a high glacial valley in the Ripollès, at the head of the Núria river, with a sanctuary whose origins go back many centuries, a lake, walking trails in summer and a small ski area in winter. Hotel Vall de Núria is part of the sanctuary complex and offers rooms and apartments, restaurants and mountain views in every direction. The valley is also listed on wedding directories as a venue for celebrations.
A valley without a road
Since 1931 the rack railway has been the only mechanical way into Núria. It starts at Ribes-Enllaç, next to the R3 station, stops at Ribes-Vila and at Queralbs, the last village with a road, and climbs through the gorge to the sanctuary at 1,964 metres. Cars stay at the bottom, so your journey from the airport ends at one of the rack railway stations.
From the arrivals hall to the rack railway
Book a fixed-price transfer from BCN to Ribes-Enllaç, or to Queralbs if you prefer a shorter ride on the train. We track your flight and wait up to 60 minutes free at the airport, so a delayed landing does not cost you the rack railway departure you planned. On the way back, we meet you at the station when your train comes down from Núria.
Practical tips
- Buy your rack railway tickets in advance and choose a departure that leaves margin after your landing time.
- Tell us which station you want: Ribes-Enllaç, where the line starts, or Queralbs, higher up the valley.
- For the return, book the pickup a little after your train is due; at the station the driver waits up to 15 minutes free.
- In winter the road through Ripoll can be affected by snow or ice; we follow conditions and agree the timing with you.
