Carlos Esteva moved to his grandfather’s estate in the Garraf Massif in 1979 and spent the following decades turning it into one of the Penedès’s most distinctive wineries: around 90 hectares of vines in small plots across a much larger estate of woodland and limestone, the Gran Caus wines first made in the 1980s, and a newer cellar carved into the rock so that it barely shows from outside.
A wedding between the vines and the rock
Weddings here use the outdoor spaces and several rooms of the estate: gardens for the ceremony, the barrel cellar for the aperitif, glass-walled rooms looking onto the vineyards. It is fifteen minutes from Sitges and close to Barcelona, which makes it popular with couples whose guests fly in, but those guests land in a place with no public transport to the gate and very few taxis on a Saturday night in the hills.
From BCN to the estate in about 45 minutes
Because the airport sits on the same side of Barcelona as the Garraf, the transfer is short: around 45 minutes, at a fare fixed when you book. Your flight is tracked and there are 60 minutes of free waiting at the airport, so a late landing does not mean missing the ceremony. For a winery visit, it also means nobody in the group has to drive after the tasting.
Practical tips
- Coming for a wedding? Give us the ceremony time when you book so we plan your pickup with margin.
- Staying in Sitges or Vilafranca rather than flying in on the day? We also pick up at other addresses, with 15 minutes of free waiting.
- Booked a winery visit? Visits run daily from around midday; check the time with the estate and tell us when you book.
- Book your return leg in advance: taxis rarely come out to the estate late at night.
