The honest takeaway: for a solo traveller with hand luggage heading near Plaça Catalunya or Sants, public transport is by far the cheapest way in, and a sensible choice. But none of the public options is truly door-to-door — the L9 Sud metro does not reach the old centre without a line change, the R2 train only runs from Terminal 2, and the Aerobús leaves you at Plaça Catalunya with your bags. The taxi and the private transfer are the only door-to-door choices; the difference is that the taxi fare is not known until you arrive, while the transfer is fixed before you fly.
