How Much Luggage Fits in a Private Transfer? Seats and Bags by Vehicle Category

Seats or suitcases — which one runs out first? How to choose the right vehicle category in Barcelona, and where to check live capacity before you book.

The honest answer depends on two things that do not grow at the same rate: how many of you are travelling, and how many bags you have between you. A group can fill every seat and still run out of boot space, or run out of seats with room to spare in the boot, so count both. If you have more bags than people — surfboards, golf clubs, a cruise’s worth of luggage, or a double buggy — size up one category rather than splitting into two cars.

Where to check the capacity of each category

Seats and suitcase capacity are shown on every vehicle category in the booking search and on our fleet page, and both read the fleet we actually operate. We deliberately do not reprint those figures in this article: the fleet grows, new categories get added, and a number copied into a blog post stops being true without warning anyone. Put in your route and your group and you see only what we can genuinely send, with the exact capacity of each option.

  • Travelling solo or as a couple with normal luggage: the entry categories are usually enough.
  • A family where everyone brings a full-size case plus a carry-on: watch the luggage figure, not just the seats — that is what runs out first.
  • Sports gear, a pram, a wheelchair or two weeks of cruise luggage: count each bulky item as a suitcase of its own.
  • A group travelling together: one bigger vehicle beats two cars — you arrive together and pay a single fixed price.

Rule of thumb: count carry-ons and hand luggage too, not just checked suitcases. A family where everyone brings a large case, plus a couple of carry-ons and a buggy, is already tight in a standard car — the next category up gives real breathing room and avoids repacking the boot on the kerb.

When to size up a category

Book a step up from a standard car if any of these apply: there are more of you than fit in a standard car, you are travelling to or from the cruise port with more than one large case per person, you have sports equipment (skis for Andorra, golf clubs, surfboards), a pram or wheelchair that needs boot space of its own, or you would simply rather travel together as a group than split across two cars.

Travelling with kids and extra gear?

A child or booster seat is available on request for a supplement from €4, on any vehicle category. It does not reduce the luggage capacity noticeably, but if you are travelling with two or more children and a full set of luggage, one category up gives enough room for both the seats and the bags without a squeeze.

What if I am not sure which one I need?

Tell us your group size and roughly how many bags at booking, and we suggest the right category — there is no charge to ask, and it is far easier to confirm before you travel than to discover at the airport kerb that everything does not fit. And if your group is bigger than anything the search offers, write to us: large groups are quoted by hand, so nobody is left without an option.

Frequently asked questions

How many suitcases fit in a standard sedan?

It depends on the size of the cases and on the category you pick, so we do not print a fixed number here: the booking search and our fleet page show the exact suitcase capacity of every category, straight from the fleet we operate. As a guide, a standard car suits solo travellers, couples and small families with normal luggage; if everyone is bringing a full-size case plus a carry-on, size up.

What is the biggest vehicle you offer for a large group?

Our largest category is the one at the top of the list in the booking search and on our fleet page — that list comes from the vehicles we can actually send, so it is always current. If your group is bigger than anything shown there, write to us and we quote it by hand instead of leaving you at a dead end.

Can I fit a child seat and full luggage in a minivan?

Yes. A child or booster seat is added on request for a supplement from €4 and does not meaningfully eat into the luggage space. Check the seats and suitcases of each category in the booking search: with two or more children plus a full set of luggage, one category up is usually the comfortable choice.

Do I need a bigger vehicle for a cruise transfer?

Often yes — cruise passengers typically carry more luggage per person than a city break. If everyone is bringing a full-size case, pick a category with more boot space than a standard car; the booking search shows the suitcase capacity of each one.
