La Mercè is Barcelona’s biggest street festival, held every September around the 24th in honour of the city’s patron saint. For several days concerts, castellers, correfocs, parades and fireworks spill across the centre. It is a wonderful time to arrive in the city — and one of the trickiest to move around in.
A city centre in celebration
The festivities span the whole heart of Barcelona, from Plaça Sant Jaume and the Gothic Quarter to Montjuïc and the seafront. That means widespread road closures, diverted traffic and dense crowds, often changing hour by hour as different events start and finish. Reaching your accommodation with luggage is very doable — but it helps to have a driver who knows what is shut.
Why a local driver helps
A pre-booked transfer from BCN puts you with a driver who follows the festival closures and takes the smoothest route the event allows, for a price fixed before you land. There is no meter ticking while streets are blocked and no surge on a busy festival night. If your exact door falls inside a closure, we simply agree the nearest accessible drop-off point in advance.

Tips for La Mercè
- Send your exact address so we plan around any closure on your street.
- Expect a short walk if your door is inside a pedestrianised zone — we get as close as allowed.
- Book ahead; September is high season and the festival adds to demand.
- Share your flight number so we track it through the busy evening.
