Fira de Barcelona is one of Europe’s largest trade-fair organisers, and it runs two very different venues. Which one your event uses matters more than most visitors expect, because it changes both the drive from the airport and the entrance you should aim for.
Gran Via — the airport’s fairground
The Gran Via venue sits in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, on Avinguda Juan Carlos I, about 10 km and 10 to 15 minutes from the airport. It is effectively the fairground next to the runway, and it hosts the heavyweight shows: Mobile World Congress, ISE, Alimentaria, Automobile Barcelona and IBTM World among them. Because it is so close to the terminal, a private transfer here is one of the shortest and most worthwhile trips we run — no dragging a stand’s worth of sample cases through the metro.

Montjuïc — by Plaça Espanya
The older Montjuïc venue is set around Plaça Espanya, roughly 13 to 15 km and about 20 minutes from the airport. It hosts events like the Salón Náutico boat show. Reaching it on public transport means the L1/L3 metro and a walk through the fairground gates — fine without luggage, tiring with exhibition kit.

Why exhibitors and visitors pre-book
Trade-fair weeks concentrate thousands of arrivals into a short window, so the airport taxi rank and ride apps come under pressure exactly when you have a build-up slot or a first meeting. A pre-booked transfer fixes the fare before you fly, tracks your flight, and takes you to the right gate of the right venue. For teams with demo gear, a minivan or Van XL carries the cases too.
