Hostal de la Gavina has occupied its peninsula on S'Agaró since 1932, one of the Costa Brava's original grand hotels, with a sand beach on each side and the walking path of S'Agaró leading past it. It is a destination built for calm — which also means it was never built around transport links.
The last-mile problem
S'Agaró itself is a small residential and hotel enclave without a train station; travellers arriving by rail land in Girona and still need a car for the final 30-plus kilometres along the coast road. Taxi supply in the area tightens fast in summer, and a car booked from the hotel reception can mean a real wait.
