Landing hours before your hotel check-in — or with a late flight home and a full day still to spend — is a common gap in any Barcelona trip. Here is what to actually do with your luggage, and how it fits around your transfer.
Left-luggage desks at the airport
Barcelona airport runs staffed left-luggage (consigna) desks rather than coin lockers — you hand your bag over, it is X-rayed, and you get a receipt to collect it later. Terminal 1’s desk, near the main arrivals area, typically operates 24 hours; Terminal 2’s desk generally runs shorter hours, roughly 06:00-22:00. Pricing is usually structured as a short-stay rate for the first couple of hours and a higher day rate — check the current price board at the desk, as rates change.
City-centre storage: often cheaper if you are heading in anyway
If your plan is to drop into the city before your hotel allows check-in, storage near Barcelona Sants station, Plaça de Catalunya or the Gothic Quarter is generally cheaper than the airport desks, and puts your bags closer to where you will actually be spending the day.
